Last night we went to the Vancouver Performing Arts Centre to see ‘Rain’ which was performed by Cirque Eloize. It was a Greek, Italian and French fusion and included a variety of Circus-like performance elements.
My favourite part of the show was the ribbon performance, where four performers were hanging from giant ribbons hanging from the ceiling, spinning and twirling really fast in the air. I also enjoyed watching the gymnastic-like performance by two male performers. It required a combination of balance and strength as they were standing on each others heads, using each others body resistance. Even though I was quite tired by the end of the show, I still managed to see the really poignant ending where it started to rain over the stage – all the performers came back onto the stage, and to me that felt like a sign of release and exhalation…. breathtaking!
